Finally it's here - LEGEND OF THE SHADOWKING!!!

I now want YOU to tell, how you like the album, which song you find best etc. etc.

I think, the Album is the album which should've been released after ''Eternity''. It continues with the epicness, the melodies, everything that i loved on the first 3 Albums. The best Song on this is for me, doubtless, ''Merlin - Legend of the Past'', directly followed by the first 3 Songs on the Album. But all songs contain a great power, im very happy to see Freedom Call back, stronger than everrrr!!!

I've just finished listening to the album for the first time, and I'd like to congratulate you on creating a very awesome album! It's funny you should mention 'Eternity', as that was the first Freedom Call album I bought, and it has always been my favourite album by you guys. I'm going to be honest, I was a bit disappointed with 'Dimensions', so my hopes for ''Legend Of The Shadowking" were not very high. :(

This is definitely the album you should have released after "Eternity", and dare I say it, I think I prefer the "Shadowking" even more than that awesome album! It has everything ''Eternity" had, but just amped up even further. As for my favourite song on the album, its very hard to choose, as I think it's a very strong and consistent album with virtually no filler at all. Which for an album with 14 songs on it is no mean feat! ''Merlin - Requiem'' is just beautiful though, and probably my fave. My only complaint is that it's so short! I wish it was longer. haha! ''Dark Obsession'', ''The Darkness'', and ''Kingdom Of Madness'' are particular faves too though. But really, just about the whole album is awesome.

Anyways, well done on producing this amazing epic of metal, and making me a huge Freedom Call fan again. Come the end of the year, I'll be amazed if this isnt near the top of my top albums of 2010! ;)

I'm listening to the album again, its one of those albums that you have to hit repeat as soon as it finishes! ''Resurrection Day'' is another awesome song, and really classic Freedom Call. It sounds like it could have been on ''Eternity'' which is no bad thing! :)

I agree, Chris Bay should register here and talk to the fans about the new album! I think he'll be quite overwhelmed by the positive reaction it will undoubtedly get. Where is everyone else? We surely cant be the only two FC fans on the planet! lol xD

I have been listening to Freedom Call for the past couple years, I have all the albums and I have to say... Legend of the Shadow King speaks to me in ways that words cannot give justice.

For me, Resurrection Day was an overwhelmingly powerful experience bringing out the tears of my essence. The timing of the release of this Album is all too spot on perfect in my life.

I could go on and on as to why, but this isn't the place for it ;)

I am a very big Freedom Call fan since the Circle of Life album, I've listened to every track with delight. I had to run through half of Paris to see them live and I didn't regret it, I even had a drink with Lars after the show. Though the Dimensions album was somehow despised by some fans I still loved it (United Alliance, Mr Evil and Far Away were just mindblowing played live on stage)

At the risk contradicting most of the fans here, I must say that this album was a major disappointment to me and a friend, also a big Freedom Call fan.

Out of the Ruins is a really good song top start the album, I was hopping up and down my seat through the song. Thunder God is according to my friend the Warriors song of the album, still good.

But then everything goes downhill ...

Tears of Babylon is soporific, and Merlin - Legend of the Past ? come on, I fell from awesome Freedom Call songs to carebear land ... Resurrection Day came just at the right time then, as my friend said "At this point it was already time to resurrect the album".                                                          And then the two UFOs of the album :  Under the Spell of the Moon and Dark Obsession WHAT DA F*CK ?! since when did Freedom Call turned pop rock ?                                                                            According to my friend, The Darkness could have been a good song, but too many ideas were mixed in : choirs, heavy riffs, battery blasts, keyboards, slides and so called refrain ... sad.

Remember ! pure Freedom Call at last ! should have been put right after Thunder God, The Shadowking is also very pleasing, Lars can really handle that guitar of his. (I don' want to talk about Merlin - Requiem) Kingdom of Madness sounds very heavy metal O_o Chris sounds like Bruce Dickinson sometimes, I like it !! =D .Perfect Day was ok.

About the album's general sound : Chris did less use of mic reverberation, a good point, giving more of a rock sound, but choirs were really overused there. A bit less of Nuremberg's women choral would have been nice. Chris didn't cut his balls off did he ?

The most disappointing thing about the whole album is the total lack of "Happy Metal", no songs like Far Away, Land of Light, Freedom Call or Warriors which makes you go nuts when seeing your favorite band live ! We want more songs like Land of Light which makes crowd go "jump jump jump" =D

On these good words I will go back listening to Eternity and Stairway to Fairyland, but I'm still looking forward to see Freedom Call live in Paris on 10.02 !

As with most of your albums, I just had to listen to your newest work a couple of times. Some songs, like the first 4 always catch me almost instantly, some take their time.

In any event, I can honestly say....you did it again. When my sweetie introduced me to your music, I was in it from that very moment, I enjoyed all your releases. Needless to say, I have them all.

A more elaborate review of "Legend of the shadowking" might follow, but I can say, I LOVE the first 4 tracks to death and I enjoyed almost all that followed, with the slight exception of "The Darkness" which didn't "catch" me as your music usually does. I do enjoy it when you try something different, but frankly, when you just get "Out of the ruins" praising the "Gods of Thunder", then it's time to enjoy and forget the days work, disappointments and stress.

Still, I love your epic "melodic" songs like "Hymn to the Brave", "The Quest", "Another Day", "The circle of life" or "Flame in the night" the most :)

Well, a rather inconclusive post, isn't it? But I'm just in a little chaotic place in my life right now, so I guess it has to be this way.

In any event, continue to do what you do, love you guys...forever:)

koenderoo: tracks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 9 are straight FC happy metal... 14 should count too. That makes half of the album tracks of that style. And I dare to say they're pretty damn good.

"Kingdom of Madness" is rock, almost sounds like Edguy, not negative either. "Dark Obsession" and "The Shadowking" are epic power metal, a necessity for an album like this, and the latter's opener rounds off the set.

One ballad per album is also almost obligatory, and "Merlin - Requiem" is nothing to complain about.

This leaves you with two tracks that give the album a "dark" touch. But it has "Shadowking" in his name, so that's not exactly wrong.

Your personal opinion is of course a matter of taste. Still, this album might be the best they ever made.

Also, the audio quality is to be noted. On Legend of the Shadowking, the sound is more powerful than ever.

Unlike some of the other people
I personally loved some of the new stuff, the darkness is awesome in my opinion, Dark Obsession: Loving the awesome guitar/piano feel, reminds me of Kamelot's Karma a bit and Ages Of Power, and a really awesome chorus
I think i've listened to the album about 6 or 7 times now. I love all the songs. 

As for A Perfect Day, the last song on the album, Surprise twist in the lyrics, Makes me love your music so much more. You did something I didn't expect you guys to do, but you pulled it off in a very good way, it had me jump and re-listen like 20 times, but enjoyed it every single time and still do.

As I said, every time I listen to this it gets better and better. I must say now that I've really accustomed to it it's one of my favorite FC albums!

Thanks so much for this wonderful album guys. You guys really are "the biggest, the best, better than the rest"

Also, I'd very much love to hear what Freedom Call's favorite Legend of the Shadow King song is!

I think my brothers are tired of Out Of The Ruins now... It's so aweosme and i just want to play it over and over, but i also like Gods Of Thunder, Babylon, Merlin - Legend OF The Past and Ressuraction Day. The german prologue is also awesome, because german always sounds awesome, but it's a hell of a language to learn.

Yippee, the new album arrived today. Wow! Once again Freedom Call have conjured up another winner.

One of the more diverse Freedom Call albums and it’s all the stronger for it. To quote William Cowper, “Variety’s the very spice of life. That gives it all its flavour”. And LOTSK goes down a real treat. There’re happy songs, melancholic songs, fast songs, mid-tempo songs, slower songs, trademark Freedom Call songs, and newer prog-tinged songs... and they sound great!

The band have incorporated some cool new elements into their already amazing sound as can be heard on the likes of ‘Under The Spell of the Moon’, ‘Dark Obsession’ and ‘The Darkness’ – different to the trademark Freedom Call style, but they quickly grow on you. They’re compelling tracks that really do get under the skin.

And the clear, powerful production kicks ass!

Favourite song? Impossible to choose. The album simply ROCKS!

Awesome album, guys – just awesome. Well worth the wait.

I've been a Freedom Call fan for 7 years now and been eager between every releases and I have loved allmost everysong you have released.

I've only been so lucky to experience one concert with you, and that was in a small pub called "garage in Oslo" a couple of years back.

I must say I was realy dissepointed with this album the first time I listened to it, maybe my hopes were high or I was maybe expecting something else..

I read on this forums that people were saying the songs were catching on, and they did actually, I've started to enjoy them more and more.

At the same time I feel that it's a downgrade from the previus albums, I've allways been showing albums and songs from freedom call to my friends with pride and excitement and I'm sad to say that there is only but few songs I would show to my friends from this album.

But I must at the same time say that the best album you made was "The Circle of Life"

It is this energy, melody, and a such good uniqnes I think you should focus more on.

It feels like you have jumped to a pure "rock" genre on this album, and gone away alot from the "power metal"

I allso see on the poll tab on wich song that are liked the most by people are showing that "Out of the Ruins" are the most popular song at the moment, and I think that my toughts about the new album isnt only my feeling since that is the song on this album that resembles the most of your "songs".

Good luck in the future with tours and such, and even tough I've been hard on criticizm your still my favourite band and I really hope you get to take another trip to norway cause I'm eager to meet you again and I've been busy recruiting Callers for 7 years so it will yet again be more than me listening to you!

This album is fantastic! I'm listening to it at the moment, and all the time in the past few days.

My personal favorites are "Merlin - Legend of the past" & "Merlin - Requiem" (absolutely beautiful <3), but all other songs are awesome, too. I just don't have to say anything bad for any song. Thanks for such an amazing album.

I don't know why, but I think the song that catches me the most in the album is Tears of Babylon, followed close by A perfect day. But, I have to say

I am completely in love with this album and so happy to finally have new FC music to listen to after such a long wait.  Much as I love the early albums I think since Circle of Life FC has gotten better and better due to the variety and experimentation with the core sound.

Songs like Out of the Ruins hark back to the classic early days of the band but it is great to hear them stretch out and challenge themselves, just listen to the beginning of Dark Obsession and for a moment it could be a Cradle of Filth song before the vocals kick in and remind us what a great singer Chris is. 

I think the guys did a great job and I can't wait already for the next FC classic, hopefully not such a long wait next time.

So over a month after the album was released, Amazon finally decided to deliver the album, and I have to say, it was worth the wait. Like others have said, Out of the Ruins was a great starting point, and Thunder God was awesome too. I really love the vocals on Under the Spell of the Moon.

The sounds of this album are gonna be echoing through my house for weeks to come. :P

This song is AMAZING!!!; Under the spell of the moon is so funny, I love the chorus; And Dark obsession has an AWESOME CHORUS, The darkness, my least fave of the album, but its great!! I really like Remember, THATS CLASSIC FREEDOM CALL!!; The shadowking its one of the best of the album!! Love Merlin Requiem; And Finally, You hear this song...the best... KINGDOM OF MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HEAVY; THE VOICE IS PERFECT!! I LOVE IT!! AND A PERFECT DAY!!! Oh my god, I love it!!!

you just did hit on the spot my friend , Under the S.O.T.Moon is absolutely godness.... vocals on the  prechorus section are pretty emotional , dark and melancholic.

I can only say that I ordered "Legend of the Shadowking" as soon as it was available for preorder in Switzerland, but if you know our delivery services, you know that it took them about a month after that to get it to me ;)

After listening to the entire Album again and again, I can only say that it is right there in the race for the album of the year with me. Got quite some confusion with that statement, as I write reviews for several magazines, many didn't understand, but I think "Legend of the Shadowking" is amongst the best Power Metal Albums of 2010.

Songs like "Out of the Ruins", "A perfect Day", "Remember!", both "Merlin" Songs, "Under the spell of the Moon"... Well, except for "Ludwig II. Prologue", every song is worth listening, again and again. The Album simply provides entertainment through and through and is simply one of the best there are in 2010.

Thank you, Freedom Call, for I don't know how many hours of fantastic musical entertainment. See you next December in Pratteln, after what I saw in March, this is going to be one hell of a show. Just don't forget "Hero Nation" this time ;)
